About us

There is free movement of goods and services in the EU. The supply of goods and services has been increasing, and more people travel abroad, distance selling becomes more widely used. The number of Lithuanian citizens buying goods and services abroad is constantly increasing, and more foreign people make their purchases or use services in Lithuania.

Consumers’ rights are concurrent to the Human rights. One of the most important values declared by the EU is to protect consumers’ rights and to raise the welfare of people. Consumer Education Centres operating across Europe aim to protect individuals when the goods or services they have purchased cross-border are not of satisfactory quality.

Examples: you’ve bought a video camera while being on holiday, and it proved to be faulty; or you have booked the trip including hotel and on your arrival you turned out to be accommodated in an inferior hotel to that was promised by your travel agency. In such or similar cases consumers should protect their right to get the goods of satisfactory quality and use the services that are provided in line with the contract.

European Consumer centre in Lithuania will help you to ensure and to protect your rights in the following ways:

  • Inform you on your rights as a consumer and of possible ways of dealing with your dispute/ complaint;
  • Provide you with free advice;
  • Quickly collect extra information related to your dispute/ complaint;
  • Introduce you with the key consumer related provisions laid down in the European and national legislation.
  • Provide assistance in resolving a dispute/ complaint in collaboration with other ECCs operating across Europe;
  • Provide you with assistance in seeking redress for the losses incurred;
  • Refer you to an appropriate institution when we are not able to resolve the dispute/ complaint;
